Getting stuck on your story

Do you ever find yourself getting stuck on a personal story? It keeps rolling around and around in your head, eventually taking on a life of its own as it rolls off your tongue –engaging everyone in your drama.

It is usually the type of story in which someone has slighted you or done something to offend you. As the story unfolds the end result is always, “Poor me”, or “Look how badly they have treated me.” The response from those who listen might be sympathy that it happened to you. But sometimes your listeners get caught up in the drama of your story. Does that serve a purpose?

How do we stop focusing on the story that gets caught in our thoughts? And how do we stop ourselves from re-living the drama by engaging others in our stories?

First we need to develop an awareness of our thoughts and behaviors. It is also important to want to put a stop to the intrusive thoughts and behaviors. These thoughts merely distract us from a focus on making positive changes in our life. They sabotage our good internal work.

Energy work can help you to become more aware of these intrusive thoughts and behaviors. It can provide a focus, supporting you to change the thoughts and behaviors and bring you more peace and tranquility.
